Pick an object from the shelf. None of them is a loaded model — each one is constructed from solids: the chair is a seat, four tapered legs, stretchers and a slatted back; the mug is a surface of revolution with a real wall you can cut through.
Press, drag, release: one cut, along the straight line you drew, seen from where the camera is. This is a real geometric cut — the mesh is split triangle by triangle and both halves are sealed with a generated cross-section. Nothing is thrown. Each piece gets a fresh centre of mass and then falls under its own weight, which is why cutting a chair's legs drops the seat onto the bench.
The exposed face is not a flat colour. Wood shows end grain, ceramic shows a chalky break, stone shows aggregate. Cut a piece again and you get another honest section through the same material.
